Design a Video Game at Game Jam!

From 8:30AM to 3:00PM

This is fun and teaches teamwork while encouraging creativity and can lead to technology involvement: Think STEAM! (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). The OGPC Game Jam is a one-day, state-wide event hosted by TechStart and the Deschutes County 4-H that provides high-school and middle-school students an opportunity to create a design document and paper prototype of a computer game based on a chosen theme. Working with industry mentors, students will learn the basics of team communication, translating abstract ideas into concrete plans, rapid paper-prototyping of their game designs, pitching their projects, and professional networking. Chinese New Year family celebration

From 4:30PM to 9:00PM

The sixth annual Chinese New Year family celebration to benefit EChO Bend Boys and Girls Club Saturday, February 1st , from 4:30 - 9 pm. Proceeds will raise funds to support special needs orphans in China who are rarely adopted. Tickets $15/ adults, $12 / students and seniors and $40 total for a family of 6 and under. Includes: Chinese buffet dinner supplied by China Doll Restaurant, dragon dance, live music, door prizes, Asian art and a silent auction plus, craft-making booths and Chinese games for kids. Have a Heart for Bend

St. Vincent de Paul – “Have a Heart for Bend” fundraiser Bend Elks Lodge Saturday, February 1, 6-10pm Local Craft beer & Wine Tasting, Buffet Dinner, live auction and dancing to the music of Out of the Blue. All proceeds go to the food bank for Bend's St. Vincent de Paul, which is the largest supplier of emergency food boxes in Deschutes County. Tickets are $35 and are available at St. Vincent de Paul offices and Elite Repeat, both located at 950 SE Third St. or online at stvincentdepaulbend.org or at the Bend Elks Lodge on the night of the event only.

It is the Middle of Winter CLOTHING AND FOOD DRIVE Jake’s Diner Now through February Donations accepted of food, clothing, blankets, sleeping bags and other essentials. Items collected will go directly to the homeless who need it through the Central Oregon Veteran’s Outreach.
