RPA to Break Ground on New Middle School

REDMOND, OR -- Redmond Proficiency Academy will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for its new middle school facility just two blocks from its existing building. The ceremony is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. at 150 SW 25th Street, at the corner of 25th and Antler. The public is invited.

RPA has tapped BBT Architects, of Bend, and Griffin Construction, of Prineville, to design the new 24,045 square foot facility.

The charter school's middle school is currently located at the former Hugh Hartman campus, owned by the Redmond School District. Redmond Schools Superintendent Mike McIntosh plans to convert the building into an early learning facility that would house all Redmond kindergarten classes, beginning fall of 2016.

In a media release, officials say this will be the first facility built and owned by RPA. It's expected to open August 2016.
