Ongoing Event: Jake's Diner and Habitat for Humanity hold a weekly Texas Hold’em Tourney every Monday Night. Signups starts at 5 PM, Play starts at 6:30PM at Jake’s Diner off Hwy 20 East in Bend. $5

Local Bend and Redmond Lions Clubs are accepting your old prescription eye glasses and hearing aids. Drop off donations in drop boxes at Big Country RV in Bend and Redmond.

The Humane Society of Redmond is having “Thrifty Dog Sales” at the Event Center behind the shelter every Friday, until Dec 19, 9AM to 5PM. Come shop every Friday, and remember, donations of new and used goods are accepted through Dec 17th at the shelter. 923-0882.

Their annual “at cost” meal for Seniors who do not have family here. Transportation is provided - and there will be volunteers delivering to those who can’t or don’t want to leave their homes. Live entertainment too! $7.95 for Seniors. All others will be at full price of $15.95 and $7.95 for kids

A Giving Tree to benefit disadvantaged kids is set up at Local Grounds in downtown Redmond, on SW 6th. Gift tags on the tree have the children’s age, size, a Christmas wish and a need. Take a name off of the tree, and return an appropriate newly purchased, wrapped gift to the Redmond Chamber of Commerce or to Local Grounds by Monday, Dec 14th.

The Oregon Trail Appaloosa Horse club is doing FREE gift wrapping at the Bend River Promenade between T.J Max and Sears. November 24th thru December 24th, they will wrap your gifts while you take the kids to get their picture with Santa. Donations welcome.

Santa Paws is at the Bend Factory Stores Nov 28th – Dec 5th. Bring your pet(s) to visit Santa 10am to 3pm. The whole family is welcome to pose for photos. For $10 you will receive a professional 5 x 7 color photo taken by Dornbusch Photography. Other products available too.

Be a Santa to a Senior starts Dec. 1: Pick an ornament off a tree at participating locations such as Fred Meyer in Redmond, Shilo Inn and Bend Senior Center. Buy items listed on the ornament and return them unwrapped to the store, with the ornament attached. A gift-wrapping party will take place Dec. 16. On Tuesday, Dec 1 and Thursday, Dec 3, Bend Area Habitat for Humanity will offer Orientations to families interested in homeownership at the Bend Habitat Office, on NE 4th St. 385-5387 ext. 225 or visit www.bendhabitat.org. Habitat for Humanity also need volunteers!

Chimps Inc. is hosting the annual Ducks.Beavers Civil War Game Thursday Dec. 3rd at the Chimps Inc. Sanctuary in Tumalo. Watch the game on the big screens in the heated arena, enjoy food and drinks and the silent auction to raise money for rescued chimps. Tickets are $55 including dinner. The 26th annual Festival of Trees, at Eagle Crest Resort is Saturday Dec 5. Featuring 30 individually-decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, musical entertainment, holiday refreshments and visits with Santa. Children’s games, and a live auction of trees are all part of the activities. FREE family festivities are from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Doors open for Gala Buyers Auction at 5 p.m. There are two tiers of tickets from which to choose. Children of all ages are invited to the 7th annual Teddy Bear Tea, Saturday Dec 12th, at the Juniper Golf Club in Redmond.
