Oregon Sentate Votes Down Real I.D. Act

Posted on Friday, April 17, 2009 (PST)

The Senate passed SB 536, which means Oregon won't implement more of the Real I.D. act until more money is made available.  Senator Rick Metsger says the cost to states is nearly four billion dollars, but the feds have only allocated $48 million. Metsger says the feds have made threats not to allow entry into Federal buildings or board airplanes without a real I.D.  The feds have given states until the end of the year to comply.
