Stabbing Victim Recovering; Fundraiser Planned

Posted on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 (PST)

Family and friends are rejoicing in the recovery of a 35-year-old Bend man who was savagely attacked last month in Ecuador. Britt Leis is being allowed to leave the Loma Linda hospital grounds for short periods in the company of a stepsister who is a surgeon. Friends in Bend will conduct a fundraiser this Saturday at 6 o’clock at the Tulen Center in Bend. There will be local bands, a raffle and an auction. The fundraiser will help with medical expenses. Leis’s evacuation from Ecuador cost 55-thousand dollars.
