The Environmental Assessment period begins Wednesday for the South Bend Hazardous Fuels Project. People with legitimate objections to the plan now have until September 27th to bring them forward. The project was designed under the authority of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 to thin, prune, mow and otherwise reduce fuels that feed wildfires. The area is adjacent to the southern boundary of Bend’s Urban Growth Boundary.
