Redmond Humane Society has Hope

Posted on Monday, July 14, 2008 (PST)

The Redmond Humane Society, with some quick cash committments from the Redmond and Deschutes County, will be able to keep the shelter's doors open at least through August. The emergency plan includes taking in stray animals from the city and the county and also includes continuing to take in strays from the public. Also part of the agreement was to work out a long-range business plan and a meeting on that was held yesterday. Board President Dale Gilbert describes the meeting as "very positive". Meanwhile, since the financial distress of the Humane Society has been made public, private and corporate donations have been received. Gilbert says donations of volunteer help, animal food, kitty litter and other items are also welcome. For more information, call the shelter at 541-923-0882.
