Attempted Murder Arrest

Posted on Monday, June 23, 2008 (PST)

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office says a resident of a transient camp south of China Hat road between Knott Road and Highway 97 suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot by another homeless man at about 8:20 last night. Lt. Erik Utter says investigators are still trying to determine a motive in the shooting. He says two shots were fired but the victim was hit just once. The victim is identified as 46-year-old William Ray Dixon. The suspect , 65-year-old Earl Wayne Blackshear, is lodged in Deschutes County Jail on charges of attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Dixon was treated for his injuries at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend and released.
