City of Bend Gets Green Energy Award from EPA

Posted on Thursday, May 15, 2008 (PST)

It has become the 16th city in the nation to become a green power community. The acknowledgement for the city of Bend is coming from the E-P-A. The latest promotion from the city is encouraging residents to switch to the Blue Sky program whereby they pay a slightly higher electricity bill, and that money is to be invested in renewable energy. Eleven percent of Bend’s residents have signed up for Blue Sky, and that’s the fourth highest amount of any city in the nation.
