Three People Escape Life Threatening Injuries in Sunriver Crash

Highway 97 near Sunriver was closed for almost two hours starting at 5:30 Thursday night after a vehicle crossed the center line and hit two vehicles head on, one being a semi truck. Luckily, no one was killed. After striking the front of the semi, the first vehicle slid along the side of the truck’s trailer and hit a pickup head on. The driver of the first vehicle, 76-year old Carol Gatley of Bend was taken to Saint Charles in Bend and is listed in critical condtion. The semi driver was not hurt, and the driver of the third vehicle, 56-year -ld Robert Julianus of La Pine was treated and released from the hospital. The accident is under investigation.
